Thursday Jul 4                                            Cloudy & mild, rain late afternoon                          Castlegar, BC
Today I visited the CPR Station Museum in the old CP rail station. It's located just off the wye close to downtown.

Unfortunately for me, the museum was just that, a museum. There was little on display of a railroad nature other than a large model of a CP caboose, in wood.
The upper floor of the station was the station agent's residence. It was interesting to wander through the rooms looking at some of the artifacts from that era.
There were some interesting artifacts on the main floor including this Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Check out the speedometer cable on the bike.
Outside on the station grounds is the old jail - a pretty nondescript building.
Out back is a CPRail caboose, but you've seen lots of these in our blog so I won't bore you with this one.
I noticed these two sculptures as I walked to the museum. It turns out that there are a number of these sculptures in various locations around Castlegar, in fact around the Kootenays. Remember the donkey outside the Bakery in Creston? When we get a chance we'll go look at a few more of these, but in the meantime here's a taste of what's to come.
So, we'll call it a day at that. Tomorrow we head for Nelson. Join us then.
