Sunday Jul 5 - Saturday Jul  11                                                                                             Pedder Bay, BC
Last night we had one of my favourite salads for dinner: Nectarine & Tomato Salad. I just had to share this with you.
Petra is working today at Bilston Creek Farm. They offer various goodies during the day including home-made pizza, ice cream, cookies, etc. Order your pizza online, grab a blanket, and enjoy the great outdoors at the lavender farm.

Jen made coffee when Jarda and I returned. We made plans to go to the farm this afternoon. Jarda had one visit to make, so we agreed we would pick him up at the Metchosin Store at 1:30 p.m.

We arrived at the farm and found Petra making pizzas. She was a real sweetheart - she'd arranged to have 2 pizzas saved for us.

After selecting the toppings and paying our bill, I watched as the pizzas were cooked in a wood-fired oven.

The view from the deck - just lovely.
This morning, before we packed up to move to Pedder Bay RV Resort, I tagged along with Jarda to the job site at the tiny house I'd visited a few days ago. The deck is finished, time to clean up.
About 15 minutes later we tucked in to our pizzas. Petra was able to join us briefly to share in our feast.
Home made ice cream for dessert finished us off. What a delightful way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Here are some shots of the lavender fields.
Back at camp, we relaxed in the late afternoon sun. We have a nice secluded site.
Monday (Jul 6) was pretty quiet. Days like this, when there is nothing pressing on the agenda, we just enjoy relaxing in camp.

We did walk to the office/coffee shop, grabbed an ice cream, and sat looking at the marina. This plaque was on the bench:
The next day, Tue Jul 7, we drove into Sooke. We turned left out of the park and followed the twists and turns of East Sooke Rd. Not much has changed - there are a number of new houses at Spirit Bay and the old single-lane bridge over the inlet at Roche Cove was replaced a couple of years ago with new two-lane bridge.
After a stop at Jenny's for a coffee, we drove to Whiffen Spit Park for a walk.

After looking at the view for a while, we got up and turned around. Can you see the brown scar on the hill behind Sooke? Just like in Langford; the land is being cleared for more houses. We did wonder where all the dump trucks were going to/coming from as we drove Hwy 14 into Sooke this morning. Now we know.
A quick stop at the local market for a few items including my favourite Jalapeno Cheese buns. Not a bad price!
Saturday morning (Jul 11) and time to re-visit Langford. We'd driven in yesterday to do a bit of shopping - our 12v/110v fridge, which we carry in Alfie, needed a new 12v plug. I picked up a replacement at Canadian Tire and installed it yesterday afternoon. I also picked up a new hoodie but it turned out that WM's "large" size was way too small. You're welcome, Jen. So I needed to get another, larger one.

We headed in early, to beat the Saturday morning crush.

Afterwards, Jen suggested coffee at Poncho's in downtown Langford.

Here's my sweetie enjoying her Almond Bar and coffee...and here's her sweetie...
We've visited Poncho's a number of times over the years. It really is in a nice location - just off the roundabout on Goldstream Ave.
The sign says you can watch the Fountain Show on Langford's web site, but I couldn't find any link to a "live" camera however I did find this YouTube video. Pretty impressive even if it was filmed quite a few years ago.

Our next stop was the Esquimalt Lagoon, for a walk.
It's been a while since we've been here, and look what we found along the beach...
We thought this sign was interesting...
The forecast for Saturday afternoon is rain, but right now it is not; however, the clouds have covered the little bit of sun we were enjoying this morning.
While we were gazing at the view across the Strait, we noticed a large ship which turned out to be a container ship.

I got the glasses from the van. I counted 18 container rows, across the ship, in front, and 4, maybe 5 rows behind the bridge. All forty foot containers, that ship had to be well over 900' (275m) in length. Wow!

So that is about it for our day today. Tomorrow, we move back to our friends Jarda & Petra's place. We're going to house-sit for a week while they enjoy a well-deserved holiday.

See you there.
