Saturday, June 11                                                                                                                   Moyie Lake, BC
After a quick dash to the Farmers' Market this morning, we drove to the Lakeside Grill in Moyie Lake. It's just under an hour's drive east. It's also in a different time zone.

We're going to meet our old travelling friend, Garnett and his dog, Rosie. We first met them on the Gaspe during our trip back to the east coast in 2016. We met up again in May, 2019 at Kootenay River RV Park in Castlegar. We toured around with "B" and Rosie for about 5 weeks. We had a great time!

We planned to repeat in 2020 but then Covid ground the world to a halt.

So we are looking forward to seeing B and Rosie.
Back at Scottie's, we made it inside before the heavens opened up. A bit of thunder too, just for some additional excitement.

That's it for today. Next week I'm hoping to bike the Kimberley - Cranbrook rail trail again. We'll just have to wait for a sunny day.

Until next time...
I must apologize to the fine citizens of Yahk. We didn't drive far enough into Yahk the other day (I think it was the thought of ice cream!), but here is their General Store.
We're at a good elevation here.
Along the way, we saw this CP train waiting. Three diesels on the point.
The rivers are high and fast flowing. Water is everywhere in the low-lying areas.
As we left the pub, the officer had stopped, we assumed, another speeder. You just can't be too careful!

On the drive back to Creston Jen took some shots of the countryside.
As I had made a reservation, I went inside to let the staff know we were outside. The pub was not busy at all. When I explained where we were and that Rosie was with us, the host said we could stay where we were. He was most accommodating. Soon, after ordering lunch, we were quaffing an ale - First Trax - from the Fernie Brewing Co., and catching up.

Fish and chips all around - Jen & I had Haddock while "B" opted for Cod. The food was delicious.

To back track a little bit, when we arrived the local constabulary had a driver pulled over at the back of the pub's parking lot. Our host mentioned this was a frequent occurrence. The RCMP officer was on the lookout for speeders through Moyie.

Well,  over an hour and half later, the offender's car was on a flat bed tow truck being taken away. Must have been something else going on; we'll never know.
We pulled into the Grill's parking lot at the same time. First things first we had to see Rosie; "B" could wait :>).

After a short walk for Rosie, we moved to the patio deck and a round table.
Pacific and Mountain time zones do not follow the BC Alberta border as you might expect. No, there are all sorts of "situations" where one area, in the Pacific time zone chooses to align itself with Mountain time and vice versa. So, I did a bit of research.

If you want a laugh, take a look at the explanation below. Better yet, read it out loud. Perhaps you will smile, as I did, when I read it to Jen. The look on her face was priceless.

Down the road, around a curve, then some more road, another curve, we finally came to the end of the train. No caboose!

The white sign ahead tells drivers that they are entering the Pacific time zone.
