Monday, August 1 Creston to Castlegar, BC
After 2 months at Scottie's RV in Creston, it is time to move on. Today we're heading to our favourite Kootenay River RV park in Castlegar, BC.
We have enjoyed our stay - the Farmers Market, the coffee shops, the whole area in general - it's been nice to be able to walk into town and not have to drive.
I have especially enjoyed riding the North Star Rails to Trails between Cranbrook and Kimberley, twice. I've also enjoyed pedalling to the Fitness Centre at the Creston Community Centre, 3x a week.
The 1½ drive from Creston to the ferry terminal was absolutely delightful. On the shady side of Kootenay Lake, we had the windows down for the entire way The temperature waffled between 21-22C. Just a superb morning after the 30+ temps of the previous week.
Here we are just after arriving at the ferry terminal around 9:45 a.m. Thirty-five minutes later, the lot is filling up.
On the ferry, comfortably tucked in with all the other vehicles and RVs.
I walked upstairs and watched the crew load the vehicles. When the ramp lifted, we'd left a few RVs behind. The line on the right are the newbies, those who arrived as the ferry was being loaded.
That's it for today. Join us tomorrow as we begin to explore Castlegar.
Boy, it was hot.
By the time I finished unhooking Ali, hooking up the utilities, unloading my bike, moving the bike rack to Alfie, setting up our Cabela's table, etc., I was more than sweaty.
After BBQ chicken and fresh salad dinner, we went for a walk around the park. Here are some of the reasons we really love KRRV!
After a run through Nelson, we arrived at KRRV just a few minutes before check-in time at 1 p.m. Lorraine saw us coming as she waved at us and started walking around the park to our site.
After hugs all around, she guided us into our site #10.
Here we are approaching the dock in Balfour. This sure is pretty country, even with the slightly smokey skies.
