Saturday, Sep 10 100 Mile House, BC
This morning we left North Thompson Provincial Park and headed south to Little Fort. We turned right on to Hwy 24 and almost immediately began climbing. Over the next 10 km we gained 740 m / 2,405' with an average grade of 7.5 %. Alfie did us proud, making it almost to the top in 2nd gear.
Once at the top, we drove across the countryside looking for a place to stop and have a coffee. As it turned out, we had to wait until Lone Butte and the High Ground Cafe. Arriving just around 10:30 a.m., we sat outside in the morning sunshine and enjoyed coffee and a muffin. Thoroughly delightful.
Back on the road again, we arrived at Hwy 97 and turned right, heading north to 100 Mile House. Thirty minutes later we arrived at my old chum's place and set up Ali.
We'd been forewarned that Colin & Mary were heading for a Walk for Parkinson's in 100 Mile. We said we would catch up after we finished getting set up.
A short while later, after a few miscues, we found the Centennial Park parking lot and the Walk for Parkinson's. My uncle Aubrey died of this disease so we were only happy to contribute some dollars for the cause.
After some words of encouragement, we walked a short walk across the green grass of the park, across Bridge Creek (look out for the fish!) and back to the start. That's chum Colin giving directions ;>)
Here come the intrepid walkers - congratulations!!
At the end of the short walk, and back at the beginning, music and refreshments were available.
Although the turnout was not large, we had fun for this good cause.
That's Colin's neighbour Pat (on the left) and his group entertaining us. Thanks Pat!!
We're visiting Colin and Mary for the next week, so if we get up to anything exciting, I put it on the blog.
In the meantime, thanks for tagging along. See you next time.
