We're almost at the end of our summer travels.

Before we head north to Comox for the winter, we are going to visit our young Czech friends Jarda & Petra in Metchosin and driveway camp for a few days. We always have a great deal of fun when we get together with these two and this time was no exception.

Roosters, chickens and Runner ducks kept us entertained. We had to laugh when we saw the ducks huddle in a corner of their enclosure watching with great curiosity as the chickens dug around in the long dry grass.
Sunday Sep 25 was Jarda's birthday and Petra had made him a birthday cake. Along with her flair for gardening she is a fantastic cook.

Friends gathered late in the afternoon as Jarda started a fire in the fire pit. He really wanted to cook a chicken over the fire. Petra buys a lot of food from local sources. I didn't take any pictures of the chicken as it was cooking. It was definitely a communal process - Jarda turning the large pieces of chicken as others took turns spraying water on the flames. It took quite a while to cook, and it was really quite delicious and amazing how moist the white meat was.
The next day, Monday, we packed up, said our goodbyes and gave Jarda & Petra their driveway back. We drove north to Whiskey Creek campground where we'd booked for 5 nights.

On Saturday Oct 1, we left Whiskey Creek and headed north to Cape Lazo RV Park for the winter.

Jennie & I hope you have enjoyed following us this summer. I must apologize for my slow updates to our blog. The old software that I use often causes me grief and takes far longer than it should just to put a bit of text and a few pictures on our blog.

But now I am done. Join us next Spring to see what we get up to in 2023.

If we do anything exciting over the winter months, I will update the blog.

See you next Spring!
