July 01-07 - Whitehorse, YT (cont'd)
We first met Tom and Sharral at Triple G Hideaway in Fort Nelson – we hit it off right away! They'd been waiting for 5 days for parts for their truck. Once repaired, they left twice heading north only to return twice. It's a long story so I won't bore you with the details. Suffice it to say, we left Triple G before they finally had their truck repaired so we hoped we would re-connect somewhere down the road.
Our new friends, Tom and Sharral from Georgia finally caught up with us 2 days before we were scheduled to leave Whitehorse. We spent a lovely afternoon noshing on appies and drinking Yukon Gold – what a blast! They left the next morning for Tok, AK.
After their volunteer work at a wildlife sanctuary near Fairbanks ends in mid-September, they are heading to the Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, NM. We told them we would see them there, if not before.
Safe travels, my friends!
Before we knew it, it was time for us to pull up stakes and start our journey back south to Vancouver Island, this time taking the Stewart-Cassiar Highway as opposed to the Alaska Highway we had used to come north.
