Sep 26 - Chinook, WA
We left Elma this morning with fresh-from-the-oven homemade chocolate chip cookies. I decided they had better cool in the rig rather than the van - they would not have made to lunch if I hadn't! It was foggy for the first little while, but as we got closer to the coast, the sun broke through the mist - it turned out to be a lovely warm fall day.

We drove to Westport and the Tinderbox coffee shop for coffee.
After coffee we continued down the road to the ocean. We parked the rig then walked a short distance down the trail to the beach.

These condos start right at the top of the dunes and go back towards town.

I'm not sure what there is to do around here but we will see what tomorrow brings. Until then, I'll leave you with tonight's sunset taken by Jen.

We left Westport and pointed the rig south towards Chinook and the River's End RV Park where we have booked for the weekend.

We stopped in Raymond for gas and supplies and then continued on to South Bend. FYI - we want some American family to adopt us - I gassed up the van for $45 US, a far cry, even with the exchange, from the $90+ Cdn we pay back home in Parksville!

The other item of note was the package of chicken "tenders" I purchased. Tenders are the filet inside the breast - we like 'em better than the breast itself. Anyway, I got $1 off, so I paid $4.53 for TWO AND ONE-HALF POUNDS - 13 pieces!!!! We will be eating this chicken for most of the rest of our trip!
River's End is only about 5 miles up the coast from the 4.1-mile-long bridge across the mouth of the Columbia River and Astoria Oregon on the other side. After a delightful drive, twisting and turning, going up hill and down, we arrived at River's End and set up camp.
