Dwight had a corner of his layout that was destined to become Inland Cement. His covered hoppers were looking for a home. He did not want the "standard" cement plant - vertical tanks, etc. He wanted a large building where cement product could be loaded under cover. We discussed a design and I made this mockup using Foamcore.
On the layout, Dwight & I realized it need something more - a building where product for the plant could be delivered. Of course, a way to get the product over to the loading area was also required - a covered conveyor belt.
I skinned the foamcore with thin styrene sheet and install I-beams in the side opening. A bent supported the end of the covered conveyor belt while additional steel was used to support the other end. Here's the almost finished scene - still needs a proper roof and some paint.
Here is the finished Inland Cement on Dwight's layout.
