Lady Matilda, affectionately known as "Mattie", passed away the morning of Sep 24, 2015.

​Just after 6 am, Jennie and I were awakened by a loud "thud". Our old gal, Mattie, had, we think, suffered a massive stroke on her right side. She was lying in her favourite night-time location at the front of the trailer.

Over the past few months, we have sometimes been helping her up - after all, she is close to 95 in human years - so we thought we could help this morning. Mattie was breathing normally, but very unresponsive to our touch. We knew this was serious. 

We comforted her as best we could and soon began to realize that the end was near. This was an event that she was not going to recover from.

About 40 minutes later, at 6:45 am, our beloved Mattie left us for that big off-leash doggy park in the sky.

Hope, BC - July, 2015

We took Mattie into a vet's office in Oak Harbor, WA. She was cremated in Seattle and her ashes cast over an orchard there.
