As planned, yesterday was a work day - we got a lot done as far as the business is concerned.

Today, after a leisurely breakfast, we headed up the road to Campbell River and the Maritime Heritage Centre. Just before we left; however, we heard from friends Betty & Frank in Errington who decided, as it was a nice day, to drive up to Salmon Point for lunch at the pub. We're on - see you at 1:30!!

We arrived at the Heritage Center and I headed off to Crabby Bob's to order dinner - a couple of Dungeness crabs. I met up with Jen just outside the front door where we saw this:
Feb 27 - 11th Annual Bald Eagle Festival, Campbell River
Before we knew it, it was time to head back to Crabby Bob's, pick up our cooked and cleaned crabs, and get back on the road.

We met Betty and Frank at the pub and had a nice relaxing lunch. What great friends these guys are!

While Jen rested, I went for a walk on the seaside path towards Oyster River. It was really blowing, but the sunshine was nice.

Crab for dinner......Mmmmmm....something to look forward to.

See you next time.

Her name is Hyacinth. She's a juvenile bald eagle.

We strolled inside, paid our admission, and wandered through the few displays relating to birds of prey. We found this little guy - a Saw-Whet owl, all 26 oz of him upstairs:
The Heritage Centre has many interesting displays. I especially enjoy the models.
The main attraction in the museum is BCP45, a restored BC Packer's seiner. You can read all about it on the Maritime Heritage Centre museum's website.
