Sidney is a pretty little town on the Saanich peninsula. Within
Sidney itself is the Washington State ferry terminal. We took this
ferry last September, through the San Juan Islands, to Anacortes, WA. Just a short distance up the Pat Bay highway is the BC Ferries terminal. Ferries leave from here to Tsawwassen on the lower mainland. And across the Pat Bay highway is Victoria International Airport.
Victoria International holds a special memory for me (yup still got it!). Many years ago I had the good fortune to be a flight attendant in training in a CP Air 747 that did a touch-and-go "landing" at Victoria. I just wondered what people driving up the Pat Bay highway thought as this "monster" flew over the highway. It was definitely a tad bigger than the usual 737 and prop jobs that frequented the airport.
Anyway, I digress.
We had a lovely stroll along the main drag (Beacon Ave.) of Sidney to the waterfront pier. On the way back, we happened on the Georgia Station coffee shop. We just had to have a coffee/tea outside in the 14C sunshine.
Mar 05 - Our first visit to Sidney
Afterwards, we continued along Beacon Ave. in the sunshine, crossed over to the other side – the dark side – and back to the van.
We headed back to Oceanside.
Butter chicken for dinner tonight – care to join us??
How great is this??!! We awoke to sunny skies and balmy temperatures. We decided to make the most of the day so we headed into Sidney mid-morning on a scouting mission.
