May 23 - Back into Canada!

Yesterday we went into St Ignace to have a walk around. The weather was lovely and the tourists really have not arrived yet.

   

The is a lot of French influence here as noted in this sign.

Mackinac Island is a ferry ride away – we saw a ferry leaving complete with its signature roostertail.

This morning we headed north to the border. After filling up at our last cheap gas stop, we headed over the bridge and the locks in Sault Ste Marie and back into Canada. Today is the Monday of the May long weekend so pretty much everything is closed today.

Before long we were pulling into our friend Mary's place just outside of Espanola, ON. We here til Friday morning when we head south onto Manitoulin Island to catch the afternoon ferry to Tobermory on the Bruce peninsula.
