Jul 3 - Gone for Gas in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, QC
It's raining this morning so why not go
for a drive?! That's a rhetorical question.
So we hopped into Alfie and headed back
to Sainte-Anne-des-Monts.

I think one suggestion I would have for
Tourism Québec would be road signs
indicating how far the next gasoline station/service is. We arrived in Mont-Saint-Pierre with half a tank of gas only to find, or more correctly not find, a gas station in town. There's a gas station 50 kms west and another about 50 kms east, but nothing here.

Anyway back to today's adventure. It was a little misty when we left the campground (about 2 kms inland from the St Lawrence river). But that was about to change big time as we were to find out! We no sooner turned left and headed west when BLAM, wind, rain, and more wind, coming directly at us. There were a couple of times I thought we were going to be blown right off the road – it was a fight! Fortunately we made it to Sainte-Anne-des-Monts safely. I knew the trip back was going to be easier with the wind behind us.

A few groceries and a full tank of gas and we headed back. We took a few pictures to show you what today (July 3) looks like here in Gaspésie.

Back at the campground, we settled in hoping that the forecast for tomorrow (sun and cloud) will actually come to pass. We're heading for Chandler, QC on the south side of Gaspé past the towns of Gaspé and Percé.

One other item of note, our good old neighbour Colin (old as in we've known him since our Nanoose days, not old in age – he is still a "pup") sent us an email re some friends of his who are touring around the country on their Honda Goldwing. I contacted Robin and Lawrence and found that they are somewhere just behind us heading for the Gaspé. We only hope they are safe and dry somewhere and not out on the road today. We're looking forward to meeting them and comparing notes. Here's their blog.

See you in Chandler, QC.
