Jul 6 -  Bonaventure & Pointe-à-la-Croix, QC
Yesterday was our second day at Bourg de la Pabos campground in Chandler, QC. We decided, between the showers, to take a walk on the beach, just across the road from the campground.
We returned to the campground and settled in for the evening. It rained on and off.

This morning we awoke to cloudy, but dry, skies. We hooked up Ali and left the campground just about 9:30. We're booked into a campground in Pointe-à-la-Croix tonight for 2 nights, about 200 clicks west.

Our first stop was in Bonaventure, QC. We pulled into the info centre parking lot right on the bay. From the tourist centre we walked over to the Catholic church. One of the staff mentioned to Jen that it was worth a visit.

We turned around at the other end of the pedestrian bridge as it started to rain. By the time we got back to Alfie, it had stopped raining. Time to dive into the little concession and pick up a couple of ice cream cones.

Here are the signboards posted out front that detail the history of the area.

We walked for just over ¼ mile from where we entered the beach and back again. Back at our site, we decided to drive up the road from the campground to see where it went.

Well, surprise, the road did not go far. We stopped at the Interpretation Centre, got out of the van and walked across the pedestrian bridge next to the old railway bridge.

But what really caught my eye were the exquisite models of various churches around Gaspésie.
On the inside, it was quite exquisite.
Of course, as you might expect, I suggested to Jen that the only thing missing in the village scene was a train.

We were very happy that we were told we should visit the church. It was well worth it.

We headed back to the rig. I noticed a Silverado pickup with a single axle cargo trailer parked across the parking lot. The owner, Garnett, from just east of Toronto had converted his cargo trailer and was travelling around the Maritimes. We had a good chat and even showed him Ali. I gave him our card and said we might see him again on our travels.

Okay so back on the road heading for our final destination of the day, we drove along the coast before heading inland a bit.

There were two models of the church (we visited). The second one from the right in the picture above and an even larger model at the end of this "village" scene below.
