Tuesday May 21 Cloudy & cool Kaslo, BC
This morning we moved from Woodbury RV Park to the Kaslo
Municipal Campground. We'd made a booking for today when we
visited Kaslo last week.
When we arrived just after 10 a.m., the campground was pretty
much empty.
Jen & I chose a spot with trees behind. A few minutes later,
Garnett pulled in beside us. We're here for a week.
Before I forget I must show you Sadie (what a sweetheart!), a
darker Golden Retriever who was camped beside us at Woodbury.
Her owner Jim winters at Country Maples RV Park just outside of
Chemainus on Vancouver Island.
After setting up camp, we headed into town for a coffee and grocery shopping.
While Jen rested this afternoon, I went for a bike ride. I rode through town to the Kaslo River and followed the trail around the point and past Front Street. I stopped at the cenotaph at the top of the hill. Down the hill I rode into the Kaslo Bay Park. Look closely and you might be able to see a small sternwheeler on the far shore.
Heading back to the campground I pedalled past the Kaslo Boat Works. You can see the boat cradle and rails for hauling the water craft out of the water.
After dinner, Jen & I went for a walk along the residential streets of Kaslo. You can certainly tell it is Lilac season—some really pretty views.
The picture on the right is of a pink Dogwood. The white flowered Dogwood is BC's flower. Well, tree actually.
That's it for today. Check back tomorrow to see if the weather has warmed up any ;>)
