Thursday Aug 1 Sunny & very hot Nelson, BC
We drove to Nelson today. It's such a lovely drive following the Kootenay River all the way and the weather was brilliant – clear blue sky.
I just had to pass along this story. You might have heard something similar.
After a couple of stops in downtown, we drove to Save-on Foods to pick up a couple of items. I left Jen in the van
The store was jammed – I forgot tomorrow is the start of the August long weekend. I was minding my own business in the checkout line; just looking ahead, waiting my turn. I pulled of a couple of the lottery tags most large stores have these days in the checkout line; you just add them to your items, then the clerk simply scans them.
As I placed the two lottery tabs on top of my items, the gentleman behind me said "I guess if you don't play, you can't win." I then noticed that he only had one item, a head of lettuce. I told him I should have looked around. If I'd realized he only had one item, he could have gone ahead of me. He said "No problem."
Then he asked me what I would do if I won the lottery.
Hmmm, I thought for a few seconds and said "I'd share it with my friends."
He immediately extended his hand and said "Hi, I'm Chuck".
We both had a chuckle and I introduced myself to Chuck.
We chatted for a few minutes. Chuck told me he had just retired. I said I'd be in touch.
I just wanted to share this with you. Hopefully it brought a smile to your face as it did mine.
