The weather's was really fitful today.
We ended up driving around the complex looking for the entrance in a torrential downpour. I had to pull to the side of the road; the wipers were just about keeping up with the deluge.
By the time we found the entrance to the parking lot, the rain had subsided considerably.
I went to the front desk. As I waited I picked up a brochure. When it was my turn, I inquired about the Fitness Centre. Imagine my surprise when I noticed that for people 75+, there is no fee. Free for the entire complex including the pool & fitness centre. Based on what I pay for the gym in Courtenay, this is a savings of $900 a year! When do we move here??!!
I had a Morning Glory muffin while Jen tried a Lemon bar.
See how slow I was taking this picture; Jen's already started. I can't blame her; she gave me a taste and it made me pucker. Definitely will visit again!
Next on the agenda was a stroll along the main street. The rain had stopped and the sun was shining!
In a little area, between the stores, we noticed this interesting sculpture.
There is a car show on Father's Day - Sunday June 19. The last car show we attended was in Kaslo back in 2019. We are looking forward to this show. Stay tuned.
Did you spot the lighthouse, the ship, and the hotel?
As we continued our walk in the sunshine, this globe popped out of the bushes.
On this side, we saw another sculpture. Quite an original name based on where the materials came from!
At the traffic light at the west end, we crossed the main street (Hwy 3) and began walking back to Alfie. I had to stop and take a picture of this sign board in front of, you guessed it, a jewellery shop. Looking across the street, some of the buildings are from a bygone era!
