We've been busy working on a new edition of one of Jen's legal text books. That's the main reason there hasn't been anything to blog about.

So, today we decided today to take some time off (for good behaviour!) and visit a craft distillery in Wynndel

At last Saturday's Farmer's Market in town, we sampled some of their Gins and ended up buying a 3 bottle sampler. Well if you like Gin, and we do, those 3 little bottles didn't last long. Hence the reason for our visit today. Replenishment of sorely needed supplies!

After a pleasant 8 km drive along Old Wynndel road (on the valley floor and parallel to Hwy 3 higher up), we arrived at the distillery - a non-descript building next to someone's home. The only indication that we were possibly in the right place - other than Google Maps announcing that we had arrived - was a lighted OPEN sign.

I know what I was leaning towards buying, but let's try a few other of their offerings.
Penny explained the distilling process - what they start with and how each "brand" is created. I found it very interesting. I asked about a tour of the distillery. Tours are offered when the distiller is on site. Unfortunately today, he was on his way back from a trip to  Alberta. We will have to visit again when the gentleman is on site. From Penny's description, I think that would be very interesting.

After making a purchase, I asked Jen if she would like an ice cream - we're not far from the ice cream shop we visited a week ago.
YUM, that was good. (Sorry no pictures this time.)

On the way back to Scotties, I mentioned to Jen that I wanted to stop at the Visitor Centre to ask what festivities were planned for tomorrow - Canada Day.

Earlier in the day, I'd asked Debbie at Scotties and she said she wasn't sure - suggested that I stop at the Visitor Centre and ask - and then let her know.

As I was leaving the Visitor Centre, I had a look at this interesting model of the Alice Mine.
I went looking for some information on the Alice mine and the Alice Broughton Mining Co.

What I found was very interesting.

If you would like to read about the mine and other interesting facts - like did you know Baillie-Grohmann (of current day local winery fame) was a British entrepreneur, click here.

Back at Scotties, I dropped off the Canada Day information circular to the office. As I spoke with Morgan, I noticed this hanging just outside the office window.
Tomorrow is Canada Day - July 1 - and for the first time in 3 years, thanks to fires and Covid, fireworks are happening.

See you there!
My sentiments exactly!!
