Another hot day here in Creston.

After working a little bit this morning, we headed out to the Mountain Barn for coffee and one of their delicious Frosted Carrot Cake muffins. Afterwards we drove down to the US border and back along the back roads of the Creston Valley. Still a lot of green fields.

Well, a quick search of the web turned up this short clip of the Snowbirds flyover today.

From the video poster - the Creston Museum:

The Canadian Snowbirds, RCAF Formation Team, performing a flyover above Creston BC on 26 July 2022 to mark the dedication of a monument to Clarence B. Lang, squadron leader of the 1967 Golden Centennaires formation team. C.B. Lang grew up in the Creston Valley and returned to it after his service with the RCAF.

So now it all makes sense. The recently installed Golden Centennaires jet "monument" in the Millenium Park is in honour of Squadron Leader Lang. How appropriate!

Here are the pictures Trish took.

That's enough excitement for today. Thank you Snowbirds!
Back at camp, continuing our work, there was an almighty scream of jet engines directly overhead. Woah...what the heck was that?!

A few minutes later, a second pass of jet engines. I rushed out with my phone to take a pic of whatever it was but the disadvantage of being in the trees, is just that. The trees get in the way of a good photo.

I saw Todd, the park's maintenance man (and our neighbour), standing up the entry road chatting with a couple of people.

I walked up and joined the conversation. Trish and her bro-in-law are in for a few days from Alberta.

Turns out that the Snowbirds were the cause of all the ruckus. Todd said they flew over at about 300'. Based on the volume of the jet engines as they passed directly overhead, they were low!

While my photography attempts were nil, Trish took 3 pics. She kindly shared them with me.
