Friday, Sep 9                                                                                                         Barrière & Clearwater, BC
We pulled out of Kekuli Provincial Park just before 9 a.m. We have a long drive today - we're heading for North Thompson Provincial Park just south of Clearwater, BC.

Climbing up from the lake to Hwy 97, we continued to climb up and over and into downtown Vernon.
Just about 3 hours later (lunch time) we arrived in Barriere. We've stopped at the Station House before, so it was a no-brainer.
While we were enjoying a well-deserved break, an old T-Bird pulled into the parking lot. I didn't talk to the owner - another patron did - but his Ford Thunderbird was a 1957, all original with a 312 V8 engine. It was cherry!
Heading northwest, we went through Falkland where we hoped to stop and get a coffee. No such luck.
By the time we got to Monte Lake, still not having found a coffee shop, we pulled off at the lake and made our own coffee.
Here's yours truly hoping for a coffee soon!
During August 2021, Monte Lake was devastated by the White Rock Lake fire.
After lunch we continued on our travels. Traffic going through Kamloops was tolerable as we skirted the east end before heading north on the Yellowhead Highway (Hwy 5).

Evidence of the twinning of the Trans Mountain pipeline were obvious beside the highway.
We pulled into North Thompson Provincial Park just before 2 p.m.

After setting up, I walked to the top of the river bank and took these pictures.
We're only here for one night. Tomorrow we head for my old chum's place just outside 100 Mile House. It was last October when I last visited - almost one year!
