Around 11 a.m., Colin & I headed for Kamloops for his eye doc's appointment.

Driving south from 100 Mile (1,059m / 3,474' ), we climb towards Begbie summit (1,127m /3,698'), then descend towards Clinton (900m / 2,953') where we  continue to descend towards Cache Creek (396m / 1,299').

The drive is quite picturesque, but today, because of the smoke from the fires in BC and Washington state, well, you can see for yourself.

This first picture was taken on the descent into Cache Creek.
Hwy 1 heading towards Kamloops.
While I waited for Colin, I walked a short distance to a coffee shop that used to be a Starbucks but closed because of the pandemic.

The new-to-me Kekuli Cafe serves Bannock. Have you ever enjoyed Bannock? Our first taste was in Teslin back in 2015 when we ventured north to Whitehorse on our first RV trip.

Unfortunately for me, they were out of traditional Bannock so I "suffered" with an
Apple Fritter bannock. It was sooo good, I bought another and a Lemon Butterhorn
to take home to Jen.

Words cannot describe the taste. For me this would be the only reason for wanting
to live in Kamloops.

On the return trip home, we stopped in Clinton for a pee break. While I waited for
Colin, there was a bolt of lighting in the distance.

Back on the road, we ran into a torrential downpour for a few miles. Coming out
the other side, we saw flames in the grass on the left side of the road as we climb to a bridge over railway tracks.

We called *5555 to report the fire but "all agents are busy...". We tried a couple more times with the same result. Well, at least we tried. Hopefully someone got through.

All in all, a good day, in spite of the weather, with my old chum.
