May 9-10 - Canyon Alpine RV Park, Boston Bar, BC
After saying our goodbyes to David & Laraine, we pointed the rig east towards Hope, BC. It was kinda nice to be on the road again, just like the old song by REO Speedwagon!
Along the way, I took advantage of a closed weigh scale and weighed the rig. With all our stuff in the trailer, it weighed just 4200 lbs! Of course we would have liked it to weigh less, but when you consider that most "store-bought" travel trailers start at well over 4,000 lbs, even the "ultra-lite" models, we didn't think we did too bad!
Gawd, it is good to back in BC! We were both looking forward to the drive through the scenic Fraser Canyon - haven't done it in years! We were not disappointed! Spectacular scenery, brilliant blue skies, and temps in the high 20s! Is it summer already??!!
Before we knew it, the turnoff to Canyon Alpine RV Park appeared. This is a lovely park with big sites set among tall pines. The park does not have a pool or playground, so there are no ankle-biters to contend with! Almost heaven (another song!!).
Sunday May 10
Our second day here. We drove back to Hell's Gate this morning to take some pictures. In years past, we've hiked the 1,000 feet down and back up. You can still do the hike, but nowadays most people ride the sky tram (cable car).
