May 31 - Look out Quesnel, Here We Come!
We woke up to another lovely sunny day in the Cariboo.
Today we travel north to Quesnel and Roberts Roost Campground. We've booked in for a week; time enough to drive out to Barkerville, the historic gold rush town and have a look around!
We stopped in Williams Lake - Surplus Herbies - for a couple of camping items, followed by a roadside stop for morning tea.
We drove past McLeese Lake, a very pretty lakeside community nestled in the wooded hills.
A little further up the highway, we saw these basalt columns. These pillars create formations known as the Devil's Palisades. Cliff swallows nest in the columns.
Before long, Maud, our intrepid GPS, told us to turn right towards the campground.
We checked in and were assigned site #41 - WOW, right on the lake.
Tomorrow we are going to explore Quesnel.
