Sep 22-23 - Sidney, BC & Anacortes, WA
After saying our goodbyes and making a couple of last minute stops in Parksville, we headed down island for Sidney, BC on the Saanich peninsula just before noon.
On the south side of Nanaimo three bikers passed us, almost cutting us off, then because a couple of police cars were blocking the left lane turnoff to Cedar, the last of the three, a female biker, slowed down and began rubbernecking. We damn near ran over her. I swerved, leaned on the horn, and promptly got the finger as she took off into the distance. Gotta get me one of those dash cams!
We arrived at Oceanside RV Park south of Sidney just around 3 pm. Of course we forgot to stop for milk, so I took the oportunity to hop on my bike and pedal back to the C-store we saw on the way in. Not much of a ride – 4.75 kms, but it was very enjoyable - nice not to have to disconnect the van from the trailer, just to go and get some milk! I plan to do more biking this trip!
The site was very nice and we enjoyed a comfortable evening – even watched to local news thanks to having cable.

The highlight of today was the Washington State ferry trip from Sidney to Friday Harbor and then to Anacortes, WA. The weather was lovely – sunny but with a cool breeze. We left at 12:05 and arrived at 3:10. It might have been a bit quicker had WSF decided to not do a "man overboard" drill.
We had not booked a park for the night but we had a number to choose from. We decided to pull into Deception Pass State Park. We camped in site #8 in the trees.
