Sep 28 - Cannon Beach and Tillamook, OR
This morning we left Washington state and headed to the 4.1 mile bridge across the Columbia River. It was another lovely sunny and warm day.
We left downtown Cannon Beach and drove past one of Cannon Beach's well-known landmarks - Haystack Rock.
Our first stop in Oregon had to be Cannon Beach. It has been 30+ years since we last visited. Hmmmm....I wonder why we didn't recognize much of the place?! Here are some shots around town, just to give you a flavour of the place - very west coast!
We stopped just before we hit Hwy 101 and took this picture of the beach, looking back at Haystack.
Hwy 101 follows the coast up and over the promontories and back down to beach level.
We stopped at Manhattan Beach and had a stroll. Had to take the obligatory pictures, including a selfie (Oh no!!). The temperature reached 24C or 75F - bea-oooo-tiful!!
We're not sure whether we are going to stay another day here, or venture further south tomorrow. You'll have to check back to find out!
