Oct 9 - Olema, CA Day 2
Yesterday we were inundated with 50 kids camped out in the meadow behind us. You can't blame the kids, but the racket was loud and we suffered most of the evening. So my first order of business this morning was to go to the office and get a new site.

We happily broke camp and moved to a new much quieter site.
The cars, and their owners, were members of a Model A club. There must have been 8-10 of them we saw in various parts of town, and out on the highway!

We gassed up (don't ask!), found the Bovine Bakery and came away with tea, coffee, and a scruptious morning Danish cake.

We had read about the Point Reyes Lighthouse so we thought we would drive out and take a look. The road was more than a little bumpy, but we made it. Along the way we passed through "historic" ranches A thru G, all established in the mid-1800s. We even saw some historic cows and calfs - it was our lucky day!
Okay, so that's done. Let's celebrate with a coffee! We drove the 3 miles into Point Reyes Station, it was like stepping back in time!
The trip to the lighthouse was definitely worth it and we were both very surprised to see the small parking lot almost full when we arrived. It was about a 1/2 mile walk to the lighthouse so we got Jen's chair out and away we went. It was such a lovely day, we decided to shoot a video...
We did see some whales "blowing" but they were quite a distance away - must remember to put the binocs in the van!

Another curiosity, take a look at this. I noticed this on the walk around to where I took the picture above. Can you see the one, lone plant?
...and take the obligatory pictures. I thought about hiking down to the lighthouse but as a couple who just climbed back up suggested, "you really don't get any better view, you're just closer to the water (and the whales)." Okedokee, that's good enough for me!!
Finally, on the way back to the van, a picture I've been meaning to take for some time. Any guess as to which way the prevailing winds blow?? Most of the coastal plants have this distinctive lean to them.
We got back to the van and headed back to the campsite. Interesting, but it didn't seem to take nearly as much time to get back as it did to get out to the lighthouse.

Tomorrow we leave for an RV park in San Juan Bautista. Ahhh, going across the Golden Gate bridge on a Saturday morning. Should be fun! See you there!
