We left fairly early this morning for Comox, about 23kms south of Salmon Point. It was chilly (0C) overnight, but the sun soon warmed everything nicely.
We arrived in Comox and drove out to Goose Spit Park - someplace we had never been before. As its name suggests it is on a spit of land which leads to HMCS Quadra. The park itself is not conducive to walking or navigating with a wheelchair, but there was something that picqued my interest:
Feb 24 - Coffee and a Tour of Comox
We drove out towards the Comox airport and stopped at Cape Lazo RV & Campground just to check it out. This park was razed 3 years ago and everything was built anew - new buildings, facilities, and sites. There were quite a few RVs in the park. It's nice to visit a park ahead of time - we might stay here when we return from this trip - ya never know!
Back in Comox for coffee, we stopped at the Rocky Mountain Cafe. We have been here before - it is a nice place for "elevenses".
We then drove out to the Comox Air Force Museum but wouldn't you know it, today was inventory day. So we will have to come back another day.
We drove back into Comox, did a bit of grocery shopping, and then returned to Salmon Point. The temperature was 13C in Comox but 9C at Salmon Point. But at least it didn't rain!
More tomorrow!
Only 180 steps from bottom to top! I'm off!!
The climb was surprisingly easy.
Here's the view from the top:
If you look very closely, you will find Jennie sitting at the picnic table.
