Jul 9 - Miramichi & Richiboucto Head lighthouse
After a one-night stay in Petite Lamèque we re-traced our route back to
Hwy 11. On the way, Jen took a few pictures of the fishing boats we passed yesterday in Shippagan.
Okay time to get going. Back in Alfie, we continued south. Jen thought it would be nice to head out towards the coast so we did. And ran right into a bridge under construction. No way around, so we turned the only way we could and headed back inland up the river valley. Maud, our intrepid GPS, indicated we could turn left a couple of kilometres ahead. Lo and behold, there's a bridge across the river. So over we go. Then back out to the coast.

Now, about the coast. We have driven the Acadian Drive since we entered New Brunswick a couple of days ago. Our impression of the "drive" so far – underwhelming. So much so, that we now just take Hwy 11 (the most direct route between the major centres) and forget about the Acadian Drive. It's too bad that you cannot get closer to the water. Even if you do, you are not actually close enough to see it. So, we figured, why waste our time going slowly through yet another village with no view of the water?!

Jen decided that we should check out Camping Cap Lumière in Richibouctou Village. We drove about 14 kms towards the coast and Cap Lumière RV Park.

We're here for just one night. We got set up and went for a walk on the beach.
Then we strolled along the waterfront and back along Water Street.
Back on Hwy 11 we headed south to Miramichi. The weather was nice – I put away my jeans for the day, but when we arrived in Miramachi, I had to put my sweatshirt over my t-shirt. These sure ain't summer temperatures yet!!

We picked up a couple of things at the Bulk Barn in Miramachi. I only mention this cause as we were checking out I asked the clerk if she could recommend a nice coffee shop not Tim Hortons. Uhhhhh, no. There's really only Tims.
C'est dommage.

So after crossing the Centennial bridge we drove to the wharf area in the old part of Chatham (a suburb of Miramachi) and made our own coffee.

Here's my sweetie doing her Cindy Crawford impression. Spot on, I figure!
Looks like lobster/crab traps have washed ashore. I guess the cleanup crew hasn't been here yet. The lighthouse is the Richiboucto Head lighthouse.

Tomorrow we're thinking of heading to PEI – a day earlier than planned, as the weather is not forecast to be that great. We'd rather get across the bridge sooner than later.

So we'll see you on PEI.
