Jul 15 - Cardigan Farmer's Market & Montague, PEI
Today started off rainy and windy, but by the time we headed off to the Cardigan Farmers Market, the sun was shining. We enjoyed a stroll through the small indoor market and stopped at the café for a coffee. Well actually, a coffee and some just-made black currant/coffee cake. Delicious!
Afterwards we headed into Montague and were quite surprised with the size of the place – big enough to have a McDonalds! And also a do-it-yourself carwash, 5 bays and tall enough to get the rig into.
The day turned out to be quite sunny and hot – 28C. I didn't feel like cooking so I suggested to Jen that we try the 1888 Pub in Cardigan which just opened last month. Boy was that a mistake! Nice to have a pub for the locals, as was suggested in a writeup on the menu, but they should have installed air conditioning. Two small ceiling fans in what used to be the general store just didn't move any air at all. By the time we finished our meal, our beer was warm and we were *&%^#&*^ HOT. We couldn't wait to get out of there.
Tomorrow we move campgrounds. We're heading to Northumberland PP down by the one and only ferry to Nova Scotia. We saw the other, "broken", ferry when we drove through Les Méchins on the Gaspé July 1.
Northumberland PP looks like it's in the back of beyond, so we're just going to relax for the weekend.
Have a good weekend!
