Aug 21 - Arlington National Cemetery
I took the day off today. Jen suggested that I stay behind this morning while she went to Arlingon National Cemetery. So this gave me a welcome rest from driving. So now with this entry, the blog is up to date.
Jen wanted to find the resting place of a US uncle of hers who fought in WWII and was laid to rest in Arlington.
On the drive along the George Washington Parkway, she noticed this oxymoron.
After Arlington, Jen visited the Jefferson Memorial, followed by a brief tour of downtown.
The United States Air Force Memorial honors the service of the personnel of the United States Air Force. The Memorial is located in Arlington, Virginia, on the grounds of Fort Myer near The Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery. It was the last project of American architect James Ingo Freed (known for the design of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum) with the firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners for the United States Air Force Memorial Foundation.
Time to call it a day. Jen did quite a bit more walking today than she expected, so she was very tired when she arrived back in Bethesda. After a successful day, time for a well deserved rest.
See you tomorrow.
