This morning we went to the C&O Canal Park. Of course, neither of us realized it was a National Park, so we paid $10 when our pass would have got us in for nuthin'! Doh!!
Nonetheless, we had a delightful walk in the sunshine without the humidity of the last few days. So enjoy the sunshine and the walk.
Along the tow path we saw our first lock. It's too bad that this part of the canal system has not been restored.
We crossed the canal and I saw this sign so I went and had a look.
On our return to the Visitors Center (which was closed), I took a couple of pics. This one's a fine example of a canal boat but unfortunately it is high and dry.
We read this sign at Great Falls, then I shot a video.
I continued walking ahead of Jen then she caught up and passed me.
Continuing along the boardwalk we saw this sign.
We turned off the tow path and walked towards Great Falls. At the first Olmsted Island bridge I shot these videos (actually I shot these on the way back).
The walk out to Great Falls consists of boardwalks and bridges.
Well that's it for today. We stopped for a coffee at a french patisserie then headed back to Bethesda. Suze has a few items on her Honey-Do list that I said I would look after for her.
We're thinking of starting our journey back to Vancouver Island tomorrow. The first order of business is to get as far from this mass of humanity as quickly as we can. So we might be incomunicado for a few days while we travel.
Stay tuned.
And the Visitors Center - quite a pretty location.
