Aug 28 - Heading West
Over the last 2 days, we have driven just over
600 miles through Kentucky, Missouri, and
Kansas. Driving the Interstate is not our first
choice, but there really isn't any other viable
option to cover the vast distances in a reasonable period of time.

As we left Frankfort yesterday, we climbed through this massive cut.
Then heading into St. Charles, we crossed the Missouri River.
We stopped overnight in an RV park in Cahokia, a suburb in East St Louis, IL. It's been very hot and very humid for quite a while; today was no exception.

This morning, as we crossed over the Mississippi River, we saw the famous St Louis Gateway Arch.
We stopped in Topeka, KS at an RV park for the night. Hot and humid again today. We will be very happy when the weather cools off.

Tomorrow we continue our journey west towards Denver, CO, 541 miles according to Google. That's too far for a comfortable one-day drive, so we'll stop somewhere in the middle for the night.
Indiana was next.
We saw the skyline of Louisville in the distance.
Then we crossed over the Ohio River.
Then Illinois.
The only traffic we encountered was on the way through Kansas City. Two lanes were closed which meant all traffic heading west had to filter into one lane. It didn't take that long and we were on our way again.
