Tomorrow we continue east. Join us then.
May 29-31 Princeton & Midway, BC
After taking the picture of the Nesting Eagle, we drove to the paved trail that runs to the old KVR rail tunnel (1,000' / 305m).
At the other end of the tunnel, the trail continued across this 2-span rail bridge, but alas, no longer.
We returned to Ali for a bite of lunch, then I took my "new" electric bike for a ride into town. We'd been told by the Info Centre staff that the 2 Rivers Park was open but it wasn't - the gate was locked. I wanted to take some pics of the Bridge of Dreams. So off I went.
I gotta tell you that my old bike, with my new Swytch electric kit, is a joy to pedal. In no time flat, I was at the Bridge of Dreams.
After a pleasant chat with the couple, we started Alfie and continued our drive.
What was becoming apparent was how green the landscape is. We did not expect such deep verdant greens, absolutely everywhere.
I turned the engine off so the cattle could pass safely. I didn't want to startle the critters.
Notice the couple in the rear. We thought they must be driving their herd to new pastures. On the contrary, they are camped just down the road and were out for a walk. They caught up to the cattle who must have figured they were taking them somewhere.
Continuing our leisurely drive along Old Hedley Road, after crossing a cattle guard, we saw youngsters lying in the grass.
By the looks of the vegetation in the middle of the flow, I'd say the river is higher than usual!
In the picture below, it looks like some flood damage has been repaired.
Life along the old Hedley Road is decidedly relaxed.
Our visit to Princeton was over; it was time to continue our trip east along Hwy 3. I suggested to Jen that we should drive the short distance back to Princeton and drive the Old Hedley Road. We never done this in previous visits.
Second gear for 17 minutes and we reached the summit (1,233m / 4,045'). On to Midway!
We've stayed at the Midway municipal campground before so we knew where we were going. Here we are, for 1 night, down by the Kettle River. I tubed down the Kettle during a last visit 3 years ago - what fun!
After a relaxing coffee in the sunshine, we walked back to the rig and continued our journey east. The first challenge after leaving Osoyoos is the climb up Anarchist mountain.
We parked the rig at the first spot we found and walked the rest of the way to Jo-Jo's Coffee.
Back on Hwy 3, we just motored along, heading to Osoyoos and coffee.
A short while later, we were confronted by these guys sauntering towards us.
